This exact photograph was used in the excellent reference work by Oliver Lock entitled ' Airborne Headdress ' .
A studio photograph of an Airborne RASC Captain his Pegasus patch is visible to right arm. Three rank pips to each shoulder indicate his rank with an officers SD tunic of the 1942 Austerity pattern it is likely that he was involved in either the Normandy or Arnhem operations with the 1st or 6th Airborne Division.
Measures just under 30 cm in height & 22cm in width. The name 'S.Darby' is handwritten to right hand corner & is most likely the photographer.
