WW2 British Warwickshire Home Guard Officers '37 Pattern Battledress
British Home Guard battledress blouse to a Lieutenant in the 47th Battalion Warwickshire Home Guard.
As an example this piece would be hard to improve upon . The Home Guard of WW2 holds a very special place in the modern history of Great Britain and many of the aspects of this jackets details reflect this . Worn by an old soldier of the great war and having the medal ribbons to show this as well as coming from one of the many interesting HG units . The 47th Warwicks were known as a GPO ( General Post Office) battalion . Many members worked during the day in this post office role and at night guarded their important buildings . 2 members of this battalion died from Luftwaffe bombing while on duty. Overall condition wise this blouse is excellent with good cloth nap and no fading . the good size No5 is still very clear to the excellent label . There remains a clear Q WD stamp and 1940 date . The officers rank pips and printed titles are all excellent and very well machine mounted .
