WW2 Japanese Navy Shore Based Junior Ratings Cap
A scarce item of WW2 axis headgear being the Japanese Navy issue field cap for shore based personnel . With the decline in Japanese naval vessels in the later stages of WW2 many Japanese sailors served as Naval troops and occupied many of the islands . It was upon these often volcanic islands that so much of the bitter fighting took place . The cap is in the classic Naval shade of cotton known as sea green . To the caps exterior is a black band showing a junior NCO . The overall condition shows light field wear and some light staining and hair grease to the rear . There is a typical number based "Kanji" script that is common in Japanese Navy designations .
