WW1 French Souvenir Adrian Helmet - Named To Sergeant Major 37th Infantry Regiment
A very good & totally researchable M15 Adrian helmet with brass 'SOUVENIR DE LA GRANDE GUERRE' plaque mounted onto its front brim named to a Sergeant Major Beaupre of the 37th Infantry Regiment.
Helmets of demobilised officers & other ranks were officially decorated with the brass 'Soldat De La Grande Guerre 1914 - 1918' (Soldier Of The Great War 1914-1918) souvenir plaques as of 16th April 1919 & were issued by the state of France as a recognition of service. Some were named at the soldiers expense as is the case here. This perfect display piece has a very good percentage of its original factory ight blue paint with flaming grenade badge secure to front for infantry troops, motorised machine gun units , cavalry. Interior has multi construction brown leather liner seen from 1916 onwards with horizon blue cloth uniform offcuts used in the construction of its band . Corrugated metal air vent strips & intact black painted steel buckled chinstrap present. There is a delicate section to the chinstrap at one end which I have left untouched.
The 37th RI were in action at Lorraine in 1914, Flanders 1914 , Verdun 1916 & Champagne 1918 .
