***RARE*** WW1 Italian Body Armour
A rare piece of WW1 Italian Body Armour complete with swivel covered peep hole , leather securing straps & swivel legs to rear.
Italy experimented with a large number of Body Armour variants as the Great War progressed the body shield 'Ansaldo' made by Societa Anonima Italiana & the armoured waistcoat of Fariselli by the Astori Company in Milan being two such examples. This shield follows the familiar patterns of most encountered with integral peephole & swivel legs at the rear which could be folded down in order to use the whole thing as a rifle shield on the ground when in action. The reed green factory paint is 100% original & largely intact . To the reverse are also the remains of a leather securing strap system & also a glued in paper tag which has the remains of some pencil applied writing. A set of serial type numbers are also present to the rear which may be a stores code but could also be an old collector/museum inventory serial number from some time ago as was often seen in many early European collections in the not so distant post war period.
Rare piece of WW1 Italian equipment almost unobtainable in todays market.
