WW1 German MG Gunners Shovel & Carrier With MG Unit Stamps

Rare textbook WW1 German MG gunners shovel complete with its 100% correct brown leather carrying case.
These shovels were made specifically for issue to MG crews their practicality over the larger sized standard issue versions needing no further explanation. With several different design differences to the standard issue the most obvious is the narrower shovel head . This example still has some of its original green field paint remaining . The carrier is very well made & by far the rarest component of the set. Hung from the belt with only one belt loop it has a loop built into the bottom of it to steady the scabbard of the bayonet. Faint markings can be seen to the leather with MG unit markings these being in a series of six digits placed in three rows of two over two.
Leatherwork in excellent supple undamaged condition with shovel also very good bearing green paint still visible in places.
