A textbook example of the WW1 German M17 stick grenade with matching maker to head & handle of 'CWN' with date 1917.
Complete with integral belt hook to head this retains a very high proportion of its original green factory paint . Just about still visible is the now faint German stencilling translating to ' Before Use, Insert Detonator' with maker initials 'CWN'. To ood handle are the markings ' 5 1/2 Sek.' denoting a 5 1/2 second fuse with matching maker initials of 'CWN' . The filling date of '22.11.17' is also visible. The star shaped screw cap at base is present this with its housing to base of shaft.
