A large sized German M17 helmet in three colour handbrushed camouflage each segment divided by black lines as was the prescribed pattern of the period.

An interesting study of early WW2 US headgear would certainly include the M17A1 helmet which was the standard steel helmet used by US forces up until the introduction of the M1 in 1941 .
A British WW1 pattern adopted by the US army in 1917 the helmet was upgraded in 1936 with the addition of a new leather liner & buckled chinstrap.

WW1 British Camouflage Brodie Helmet With London Regiment Flash

Interesting WW1 British Brodie helmet which recently surfaced with heavily thick textured overpaint & blue & red flash to side of the London Regiment . It is quite aparent on inspection that this painted flash sits on an earlier tan colour insignia which can be seen in one corner . Brodie has thin wire chinstrap brackets with liner long gone.  read more

WW1 US GI Doughboy Painted German 'Mimickry' Camouflage Helmet

WW1 German M16 helmet in a very striking four colour camouflage scheme typical of those painted by US soldiers in the immediate postwar period to be kept as souvenirs.
